🌟 Reflections from the Cabinet Dinner at Teachers College 🌟

ree

Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Cabinet Dinner at Teachers College, Columbia University, as one of the Senators from the Philosophy and Education program. I represented the overarching Arts and Humanities Department at this event, which was not just a dinner but a beautiful gathering of minds dedicated to advancing education and community.

Seated alongside TC Senate members and esteemed alumni like Juan Carlos Reyes, Janice Robinson, and Katie Embree, I felt a connection to the rich and real legacy of Teachers College. Juan Carlos, as the Director of Student Affairs, plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience. Janice, the Associate Vice President for Diversity and Community Affairs, champions initiatives that promote equity and inclusion across our campus. I learned so much about all the ways the office handles other parts of the student experience. Katie, in her role as the Director of Alumni Relations, is instrumental in fostering lasting connections among graduates, ensuring that our voices continue to resonate within the TC community. Wow, to think they are all alum of this place!

Throughout the evening, I had the chance to share my unique background and goals, fostering authentic connections that remind me why I chose this path. And most of all why I am grateful God ordained this particular path for me. Hearing the inspiring stories of my tablemates—each a testament to the transformative power of education—filled me with hope and motivation.

The Cabinet Dinner was more than a networking event; it was a reminder of the strength of our community. Together, we can uplift one another, driving change and innovation within higher education. I left feeling empowered and excited for what lies ahead, knowing I’m part of a community that values authenticity and collaboration. Cheers to voice, fostering relationships and being committed to the ideals of community.
